The Breakthrough Fellowship is committed to partnering with parents and giving children the academic advantage to compete in today’s ever-changing world. That is why we are so excited to announce the launch of a new ministry called: A Thirst for Knowledge (ATK). The mission of ATK is to provide after-school academic coaching, tutorial and enrichment services to children in the grades 2-12 starting Thursday, September 15, 2016.
Leading this ministry are two former teachers and a certified instructor: Rev. Bernese Shaw, Mrs. Tomaree Tarpley and Mrs. Zerlene Schoolfield. Coupled with a group of select volunteers, this team brings more than 50 years of experience and passion in the field of education --- specifically in the subjects of English, writing, reading, social studies and mathematics.
This ministry is FREE to children in the community. However, enrollment is first come first serve and is subject to a one-time $30 diagnostic analysis that will assist in identifying your student’s abilities, academic needs, strengths and growth areas. Enrolled students will be eligible to receive coaching with homework, in addition to receiving enrichment services in math and reading. Each session will last 45 minutes and take place at the church on Thursday evening and Saturday morning for the academic semester.
